Facebook developed immensely over the years, and many features were added. Beginning as a homely website where users can post and share pictures, Facebook today is nothing like its initial stages. In a space called "Wall," users can post their statuses to inform friends of their whereabouts and actions. On every user's homepage, there's a "News Feed" feature which highlights information including profile changes, upcoming events, and birthdays of the user's friends.

One of the most popular applications is "Photos," for users to upload photos, and to "tag" their friends who are also Facebook users in a photo. The friends will be notified that they've been tagged and will be able to find a link to see the photo. There's also a "Chat" application on Facebook that allows users to communicate instantly online. Users can also send virtual gifts to their friends, play games, or maintain farms on Facebook
